The New York Giants have something to celebrate—and it's not just their rookie cornerback's on-field performance. Colton Hood, the team's 37th overall pick, is already making waves with his signature "Hood" celebration, and the Giants are hoping to see plenty of it when the regular season kicks off.

After Saturday's rookie minicamp practice, Hood admitted he's been surprised by how much attention his celebration has garnered. "It's really cool. I didn't expect it to get this big," he said. "I've seen other players from different teams use it, but it really isn't the same because their last name is not Hood." He added, "It's been really cool just to see it pick up like that. I'm going to keep doing it the rest of my career."

During practice, Hood made a standout play by intercepting a pass, ripping the ball out of tryout running back Miles Davis's hands. While he initially held back from celebrating—"It's practice. I'm not really going to celebrate on my teammates"—defensive backs coach Addison Lynch encouraged him to break it out as he came off the field. "It's definitely going to come out when the season starts for sure," Hood promised.

Giants head coach John Harbaugh was impressed with Hood's overall performance. "Loved him in press. He was at press corner. He was playing press out there with the other corners. He looked really good," Harbaugh said. "You saw him make a couple of plays. How about the interception in two minute? That was a nice play. He was good and diligent the whole time."

NFL Media's Lance Zierlein described Hood with three words: "press-man bully." That aggressive, in-your-face style is exactly what the Giants are looking for at cornerback. "They want us to be up in guys' faces," Hood said. "That's what I like to do."

Over the past two seasons, Hood recorded three interceptions and 14 passes defensed. While some defensive backs might struggle with tracking and catching the ball, Hood isn't fazed. "I think a lot of DBs panic just because they're not great at it," he noted, confidently suggesting that ball skills come naturally to him.

For Giants fans, the excitement is building. Whether it's his lockdown coverage or that trademark celebration, Colton Hood is bringing a spark to the secondary—and the team can't wait to see it in action when the games count.
