Giants starter Logan Webb has been put on the 15-day injured list Saturday because of right knee bursitis after struggling with knee discomfort in his last start, a 10-5 loss to the San Diego Padres. San Francisco made the move retroactive to Wednesday. “I haven’t missed a start in a long time, so it’s eating at me a bit,” Webb said.

San Francisco Giants fans will have to wait a little longer to see ace Logan Webb take the mound. The star right-hander was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to right knee bursitis, a move that's retroactive to Wednesday.

The news comes after Webb battled knee discomfort during his last outing—a tough 10-5 loss to the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. In that start, he allowed six runs over just four innings before manager Tony Vitello pulled him from the game.

For a pitcher known for his durability, this setback stings. "I haven't missed a start in a long time, so it's eating at me a bit," Webb admitted. "But I think it's best for me. Best for the team. Best for the longevity of my career."

Vitello echoed that sentiment, emphasizing a long-term perspective. "It's a little bit more of a—I don't want to say day-to-day thing—but give it a few days and see where he's at," the manager said before Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. "Better to keep the long run in mind."

In Webb's absence, the Giants have called up right-handed pitcher Trevor McDonald from Triple-A Sacramento. McDonald impressed in his lone start this season on Monday, allowing just one run and two hits across seven innings—a performance that could give the Giants some much-needed stability in the rotation.

For now, San Francisco will lean on its depth as one of the game's top arms takes a necessary breather. Webb's health is paramount, and with a careful approach, the Giants hope to have their ace back on the mound before long.
