Could a reunion between the New York Giants and their former star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. be on the horizon? Head coach John Harbaugh isn't ruling it out, but he's making it clear that any potential deal will need to benefit both sides.
Harbaugh revealed Saturday that he and the 33-year-old Beckham have been in frequent contact—three or four times in the past week alone—discussing the possibility of bringing the dynamic playmaker back to the team that drafted him. Speaking after the Giants' rookie minicamp practice, Harbaugh explained that for now, the focus is on Beckham's preparation.
"Talked to Odell a lot," Harbaugh said, via ESPN. "He's in Arizona right now training and spending time with his son. The goal for right now is for him to train and get as ready as he can be. And then we'll see where we're at at that time."
Harbaugh added that a decision on signing Beckham may not come until training camp, leaving the door open but not rushing the process.
Beckham, who turns 34 in November, has not played since the 2024 season, when he appeared in nine games for the Miami Dolphins. His NFL journey has been a rollercoaster since his Giants heyday. Originally selected No. 12 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft, Beckham spent five electric seasons in New York, earning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, two All-Pro selections, and four Pro Bowl nods. He also authored one of the most iconic touchdown catches in league history—a one-handed grab that became an instant classic.
After being traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019, Beckham's career took several turns. He was waived during the 2021 season and signed with the Los Angeles Rams, helping them win Super Bowl LVI. However, he tore his ACL for the second time in two years during that championship game, sidelining him for the entire 2022 season. He returned in 2023 to play for the Baltimore Ravens—under then-head coach John Harbaugh—before his brief stint in Miami.
Beckham worked out for the Giants in April, and Harbaugh said he "looked good." But the Giants' wide receiver room is already crowded. Star target Malik Nabers is recovering from an ACL injury, and the depth chart includes Darius Slayton, Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III, and 2026 third-round draft pick Malachi Fields.
"We have just such an honest conversation about it," Harbaugh said. "It's got to be right for both parties."
For now, Giants fans will have to wait and see if Beckham's next chapter brings him back to where it all began.
