Former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz is appointed as Ghana's head coach for the upcoming World Cup.

In a major move ahead of the upcoming World Cup, Ghana has appointed the vastly experienced Carlos Queiroz as its new head coach. The 73-year-old Portuguese tactician, best known for his two spells as Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant at Manchester United, takes over a Black Stars side hungry for success on the global stage.

Queiroz steps into the role following the departure of Otto Addo, who was dismissed after recent friendly defeats and the team's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The new manager brings a wealth of international pedigree, having led Portugal at the 2010 World Cup and guided Iran through the past three tournaments.

"I accept this mission with the same passion and commitment that have guided me throughout my career," Queiroz stated. "Ghana is a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul." His immediate task is a formidable one: navigating a challenging World Cup group that includes England, Croatia, and Panama, with the tournament set to kick off this summer across the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

With a coaching resume that also includes stints at Real Madrid, Egypt, and Colombia, Queiroz's strategic mind and experience in high-pressure environments will be crucial as he aims to harness Ghana's raw talent and steer the team toward a deep run in the competition.
