Arsenal have received a massive boost ahead of Tuesday's decisive Champions League semi-final second leg against Atlético Madrid, with Kai Havertz declared fit and available for selection after missing the first leg through injury.

The Germany international, who joined the Gunners from Chelsea in a high-profile move last summer, has been sidelined with a knock that kept him out of last week's tense 1-1 draw in the Spanish capital. But speaking at Monday's pre-match press conference, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed that Havertz – alongside captain Martin Ødegaard – is ready to feature at the Emirates Stadium.

"Yes, they are available; they are in the squad, both of them," Arteta said. "We need options, we need the capacity to play different games tomorrow, whether it's from the start or after. So it's really, really good news for us to have them both back."

Havertz's return couldn't come at a better time for Arsenal, who are chasing a place in the Champions League final for the first time since 2006. The 25-year-old former Bayer Leverkusen star has endured a frustrating campaign disrupted by injuries, but his versatility – capable of playing as a striker, attacking midfielder, or wide forward – gives Arteta valuable tactical flexibility against Diego Simeone's notoriously stubborn Atlético side.

On the international front, Havertz recently made his long-awaited return to the Germany national team in March, and with the World Cup on the horizon, he'll be desperate to stay fit and stake his claim for a place in Julian Nagelsmann's squad. A strong performance on Tuesday night would not only boost Arsenal's European hopes but also send a clear message to the Germany boss.

With the tie finely poised at 1-1, the Gunners will be counting on Havertz's big-game experience – including his Champions League-winning goal for Chelsea in 2021 – to help them over the line and into the final.
