The Georgia Bulldogs are making a bold move to strengthen their 2027 recruiting class, setting their sights on flipping a Penn State commit. After recently losing a wide receiver pledge, the Bulldogs have extended an offer to three-star wide receiver Jamir Dean, who committed to the Nittany Lions on May 1.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Dean is a versatile athlete from Alcoa High School in Tennessee. Ranked as the No. 51 wide receiver in the nation, he brings more than just football skills to the table. A true multi-sport standout, Dean also excels in basketball—where he surpassed 1,000 career points midway through his junior season—and track and field. His athleticism was on full display when he placed seventh at the Tennessee AA decathlon state meet as a sophomore.
Georgia's urgency to add Dean comes after three-star wide receiver Aden Starling decommitted from the Bulldogs on Wednesday. With only seven commits in their 2027 class, currently ranked No. 22 nationally, the Bulldogs are looking to rebuild depth at the receiver position. Dean could be the key to turning that around.
Interestingly, Dean might find inspiration from five-star running back Kemon Spell, who made a similar move. Spell decommitted from Penn State following the firing of head coach James Franklin and later joined the Bulldogs on Feb. 2, 2026. Georgia fans are hoping Dean follows the same path, adding another talented playmaker to their growing roster.
