The Georgia Bulldogs have completed their 2026 spring with the conclusion of G-Day, the Bulldogs' annual spring scrimmage. In the spring game, the red team (first-team offense) beat the black team 27-17 (first-team defense).

The spring game started with several consecutive stops before the red team got the scoring started. Both sides of the line of scrimmage looked imposing for Georgia. The first-team offense jumped out to a 17-0 halftime lead thanks to a Peyton Woodring field goal and touchdowns from tight end Jaden Reddell and running back Dwight Phillips. Quarterback Gunner Stockton did not play the entire second half as Georgia spread out quarterback reps to numerous passers.

"The guys had to push through today, and we actually got less reps today than we got our other two scrimmages butpleased with the progress of the team," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said after the spring game. "We have a lot of youth in this team that continues to grow up. We're going to have a lot of guys that are going to help us next year, excited for the next step."

The Bulldogs should have the deepest tight end room in the country this fall. Georgia appeared set with Lawson Luckie and Elyiss Williams. Jaden Reddell had a breakout spring game and will be hard to keep off the field.

This trio should be elite, but it doesn't stop there. Georgia returns Ethan Barbour after a promising freshman season and Colton Heinrich made a one-handed catch for an explosive that was probably the best play of G-Day.

Georgia running back Nate Frazier has been through a tough spring. His father passed away and he suffered an ankle injury on his first carry of the scrimmage. Frazier did not return and coach Kirby Smart said he reaggravated an injury he suffered in the Sugar Bowl against Ole Miss. Frazier will still likely be a preseason All-SEC selection, but Georgia needs him healthy.

Georgia running back Dante Dowdell did not need a lot of carries to make in impact on G-Day. The senior transfer from Kentucky had just six carries, but he finished with a game-high 61 rushing yards and a touchdown. The majority of Dowdell's yardage came on two carries. He had the scrimmages two longest runs (27 and 28 yards).

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound running back showed he has the ability to rip off big plays and may be in line for a larger role than just a goal line back. Dowdell could have a larger role than Josh McCray did last season.

Several different Georgia quarterbacks flashed potential during the spring game outside of senior starting quarterback Gunner Stockton. Ryan Puglisi was the second-string quarterback. He went eight for 19 for 86 yards and took a pair of sacks. He was not Georgia's most impressive passer.

Ryan Montgomery showed some flashes. He threw for a game-high 132 passing yards, but had an interception. Georgia's quarterback room goes five-deep with redshirt freshman Hezekiah Millender completing nine of 15 passes for 103 yards and adding a rushing touchdown. Freshman early enrollee Bryson Beaver flashed arm strength and mobility in a nine of 13 for 101 yards and touchdown performance.

Branch was arrested hours after G-Day and less than a week before the 2026 NFL draft. Kirby Smart warned players to stay out of trouble following the spring game. Branch was arrested for two misdemeanors, which probably won't impact his draft stock much, but he'll have to answer questions about the incident.

Defensive backs Tyriq Green, Blake Stewart and Todd Robinson all posted interceptions on G-Day. Linebacker Nick Abrams was very active despite posting just two tackles. Edge rusher Chase Linton posted four tackles and a pass break up. He figures to have a more prominent role following Amaris Williams' ACL injury.

Defensive lineman Josh Horton posted two tackles and two pass deflections. He appears improved entering his second year in Athens. Running backs Chauncey Bowens (more explosive) and Dwight Phillips (stronger) both looked improved. Wide receiver Craig Dandridge made the most of his reps and caught three passes for 43 yards.
