The recruiting trail is heating up, and the Georgia Bulldogs just missed out on a key target. Three-star interior offensive lineman Reis Russell has officially committed to the Washington Huskies, according to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett. The massive 6-foot-3, 295-pound lineman chose the Huskies over Georgia, Miami, and USC, despite taking an official visit to Athens on April 17.

Russell, ranked as the No. 54 interior offensive lineman and No. 964 overall player in the class of 2027 per 247Sports, is also the No. 4 recruit in Colorado. With his size and pedigree—he's the son of Philadelphia Eagles senior personnel executive Matt Russell—he had been a top priority for coach Kirby Smart and his staff. The Bulldogs were hoping to add his strength to their 2027 recruiting class, but Russell ultimately opted for the Pacific Northwest.

This decision adds to a recent string of recruiting setbacks for Georgia. Four-star cornerback Jerry Outhouse recently flipped his commitment from UGA to UCLA, while top in-state tight end Grant Haviland chose Vanderbilt over the Bulldogs. With the 2027 class still taking shape, Georgia's coaching staff will now pivot to other prospects to bolster their offensive line depth.

For fans tracking the Bulldogs' roster, it's a reminder that recruiting battles are never over until the ink dries. Georgia remains a powerhouse, but these misses highlight the fierce competition for top talent across the country.
