The Georgia Bulldogs' secondary will be without a key piece for the annual G-Day spring game. Star cornerback Ellis Robinson, the 2025 national defensive freshman of the year, is sidelined after undergoing TightRope surgery to repair a high ankle sprain suffered in practice.

While the timing is a setback for spring evaluations, there is a proven track record for this procedure at Georgia. Notable players like Brock Bowers and Tate Ratledge have successfully returned from TightRope surgery, and the expectation is for Robinson to be ready for the critical fall camp ahead of the 2026 season.

Robinson's absence will test the Bulldogs' depth at cornerback. He was instrumental in Georgia's 2025 SEC championship victory over Alabama and was projected to start alongside Demello Jones. The team will now look to transfers Gentry Williams (Oklahoma) and Braylon Conley (USC) to step up during spring reps.

The G-Day scrimmage, set for Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN+ and SEC Network+, will offer a first look at how the defense adjusts. Robinson is one of nine Bulldogs ruled out, highlighting the physical toll of spring practice as the team builds toward another title run.
