Georges St‑Pierre left speechless by Alex Pereira: His “unbelievable” take will shock you

Georges St-Pierre has been paying close attention to Alex Pereira’s journey, and he likes what he sees. Pereira, already a champion at both middleweight and light heavyweight, is closing in on another chance to make history.

Georges St-Pierre has seen a lot in his legendary career, but even the former two-division champion was left genuinely stunned after meeting Alex Pereira face-to-face.

The MMA icon recently crossed paths with Pereira at UFC 328 in Newark, and what he saw up close left him searching for words. "I don't know how he's doing this, this is unbelievable," St-Pierre told MMA Junkie. "He's so big. He was sitting next to me. I don't know how he got so big."

Pereira, who has already captured gold at both middleweight and light heavyweight, is now on the verge of something no fighter has ever accomplished in UFC history. On June 14, he'll face Ciryl Gane in the co-main event at UFC White House with the interim heavyweight title on the line. A victory would make him the promotion's first-ever triple champion—a remarkable feat considering his relatively short tenure in MMA.

The Brazilian's physical transformation has been impossible to ignore. Since his days fighting at 185 pounds, Pereira has packed on serious size, and his current frame looks more than capable of handling the power that comes with the heavyweight division. He's hinted at this move for some time, especially as weight cuts became increasingly difficult at 205 pounds—the same issue that plagued him at middleweight.

St-Pierre, who knows a thing or two about climbing weight classes after winning titles in two divisions himself, seems to have reached the same conclusion as many fans: Pereira's shift to heavyweight feels less like a gamble and more like a natural progression. The Canadian legend famously captured the middleweight title by beating Michael Bisping in 2017 before retiring, but Pereira is chasing something even greater—a third divisional crown.

However, even if Pereira gets past Gane, he'll face a waiting game. Tom Aspinall, currently sidelined after double eye surgery, is expected to face the winner of this interim title bout once he's fully recovered. That means Pereira's path to becoming an undisputed three-division champion—not just an interim one—still has hurdles to clear.

For now, the MMA world is watching closely as one of the sport's most explosive athletes prepares to write another chapter in his already remarkable story. And if St-Pierre's reaction is any indication, we might all be in for something truly special.
