Georges St-Pierre, widely regarded as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, has just hinted at a potential return to combat sports—and it could open the door for Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) to book their next dream fight.
This weekend, MVP and Netflix are teaming up to promote a massive MMA card headlined by an improbable clash between Ronda Rousey, 39, and Gina Carano, 44. The event also features legends like Nate Diaz, 41, and Junior dos Santos, 42. If this card succeeds, Netflix—which is aggressively pursuing live sports content—could be eager for more nostalgia-fueled showdowns. But with the UFC dominating today's top talent, MVP would need to turn to iconic names from the past. Enter St-Pierre.
The Canadian legend, who retired with a 26-2 record and 10 successful welterweight title defenses, is often called the greatest fighter in UFC history. After a four-year hiatus, he returned in 2017 to win the middleweight belt—a perfect capstone to an incomparable career. Since then, he's stayed away from high-level competition. But in a new interview with MMA Junkie, the 44-year-old admitted he "gets requests maybe once or twice a month for either fighting in MMA, boxing, wrestling, or grappling."
Instead of shutting the door completely, St-Pierre explained that it's simply not the right time. He's focused on other projects and recovering from a recent back injury. Still, he didn't rule out one last matchup. That's exactly the kind of opening MVP and Netflix need. With Rousey vs. Carano already generating buzz, a St-Pierre appearance could be the perfect follow-up for fans craving a dose of MMA history—and for Netflix, another blockbuster live event.
