The NFL draft might be over, but for teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, the real work is just beginning. Once the final pick is announced, the scramble for undrafted free agents (UDFAs) kicks off—a chance to find hidden gems who slipped through the cracks. While some teams make a splash in this phase, the Steelers kept things quiet, signing just six players. Don't let the low numbers fool you, though: a couple of these under-the-radar additions have a real shot at cracking the 53-man roster.

Let's start with the defensive line. If the Steelers had drafted Syracuse's Kevin Jobity Jr. instead of Gabriel Rubio in the sixth round, few would have blinked. Jobity brings a much higher ceiling as a pass rusher, standing 6-foot-4 with experience both inside and outside—exactly what Pittsburgh needs behind veteran Cam Heyward. In 38 career games, he racked up 20.5 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks last season alone. Compare that to Rubio, who managed just 7.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks over four seasons. Even with a potential return from Dean Lowry, Jobity's upside makes him a strong candidate to stick.

Next up is tight end, where the Steelers signed two UDFAs: Lake McRee and Chamon Metayer. With Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington locked in, the battle is for a backup role. But here's where it gets interesting: Metayer has a built-in advantage. He played alongside Steelers rookie offensive tackle Max Iheanachor at Arizona State, and with Iheanachor potentially on the fast track to a starting job, keeping his former blocking mate makes plenty of sense. Whether it's McRee's receiving ability or Metayer's familiarity, one of them could earn a spot—even with the team drafting fullback/tight end Riley Nowakowski.

In a league where every roster spot matters, these UDFAs represent more than just training camp fillers. For Steelers fans, keep an eye on Jobity and Metayer—they might just be the next proof that the draft isn't the only path to the pros.
