Fulham's weekend hero Ryan Sessegnon will be sidelined for Saturday's clash with Arsenal after picking up a hamstring injury, dealing a blow to Marco Silva's plans just days after the defender's match-winning performance against Aston Villa.
The 24-year-old, who scored the decisive goal in Fulham's 1-0 victory last weekend, joins a growing injury list that includes former Arsenal star Alex Iwobi and another key player, Kevin. While right-back Kenny Tete has returned to training, Silva confirmed he's unlikely to feature in the starting XI.
"Not good news about Ryan—he will be out for the next game and probably the one after too," Silva revealed. "Alex is still out, Kevin as well. Kenny is back, maybe in contention, but it's too soon for him to start."
The Fulham boss emphasized the club is taking extra precautions with Sessegnon given his injury history, wary of rushing him back too soon. On a brighter note, the squad has no other major fitness concerns, meaning the trio of absentees should be the only ones missing from the lineup.
Silva added that while there are "some doubts with some players," he expects them to be ready for the trip to the Emirates. Arsenal, meanwhile, face their own injury woes with Mikel Merino, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber likely out, while Martin Odegaard is a doubt after being substituted early midweek. Both sides will be hoping their depth can step up in this crucial Premier League encounter.
