Florida State is making an early move for one of Alabama's rising defensive prospects, and the Seminoles are set to host him first on his official visit tour.
Wesley Gover, a 2027 three-star defensive lineman from Thompson High School, has narrowed his recruitment to four schools, with Florida State leading the pack. The 6-foot-2, 285-pound standout will kick off his official visits in Tallahassee on May 29, followed by trips to Kentucky (June 5), Purdue (June 12), and Baylor (June 19).
The Seminoles have been building a strong connection with Gover since January, when he attended one of their Junior Day events and left with a scholarship offer. He returned for another visit in March, and now the program has the first chance to impress him during the crucial official visit period.
"They're the closest and they were my first big offer, so they were the first team to take a chance on me," Gover said. "That's a big thing. So yeah, them taking a chance on me is a big, big thing towards why I made an OV to them."
Gover's stock has been on the rise thanks to a breakout 2025 season. He recorded 65 total tackles—28 more than his sophomore campaign—along with 10 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and six quarterback hurries. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he's listed as the No. 733 overall player, the No. 83 defensive lineman in the nation, and the No. 27 prospect in Alabama.
For Florida State, adding Gover would be a significant boost to their 2027 recruiting class, which currently includes four-star edge rusher Anthony Cavallaro. With a busy stretch of four official visits over 40 days and thousands of miles of travel ahead, the Seminoles are hoping their early investment pays off when Gover steps on campus later this month.
