Florida State men's basketball and Florida A&M are set to meet in Tampa for the first regular season game between the two since 1991.

For the first time in over three decades, Florida State and Florida A&M men's basketball teams are set to reignite their rivalry in a regular-season showdown—and this time, they're taking the action to Tampa. The game, which kicks off the regular season as part of a doubleheader also featuring Florida versus Miami, marks the first regular-season meeting between the two programs since a heated 1991 contest.

While the infamous brawl from that year still lingers in memory, the teams have since taken steps toward reconciliation. Last October, they faced off in a preseason exhibition that honored Rattlers head coach and former Seminole legend Charlie Ward, whose jersey was retired during the event. Both Ward and FSU head coach Luke Loucks expressed a mutual desire to make this matchup an annual tradition—and the Tampa game is the next step in that journey.

For now, Tallahassee fans will have to wait at least another season to see a regular-season clash between the Seminoles and Rattlers at home. But the stakes are already high: In his first season at the helm, Loucks led FSU to an 18-15 record and an ACC tournament quarterfinal loss to Duke, while Ward's FAMU squad finished 15-16 and reached the SWAC tournament semifinals before falling to Southern.

As both programs continue to build momentum, this Tampa showdown promises to be a thrilling chapter in a rivalry that's as much about respect as it is about competition. Whether you're repping garnet and gold or orange and green, mark your calendar—this is one tip-off you won't want to miss.
