It's rivalry week in college baseball, and few matchups carry the weight of Florida State versus Miami. When these two storied programs collide, the intensity is always palpable—but this weekend, the stakes are even higher as they close out the regular season at Dick Howser Stadium.

The No. 11 Seminoles (36-15, 17-10 ACC) enter the series sitting in third place in the conference standings, tied with No. 23 Boston College. Just one spot behind them? The Miami Hurricanes (35-15, 15-12 ACC). With the ACC tournament on the horizon, this three-game set starting Thursday, May 14, will help determine where both teams land in the postseason bracket.

"The magnitude of everything you do down the stretch is amplified," said FSU head coach Link Jarrett. "Then when you have a rivalry series, the last two of the year, it builds a crescendo. It seems like that's where we are with this, and the guys are excited."

Jarrett acknowledged the wear and tear of a long season, noting that his team is coming off one of the toughest road environments in the conference. "Everybody's a little worn down and beat up this time of year. But now you're back at home, the guys feel good, we have our fans, and they're excited for this. It continues to increase the ramifications of how you perform."

The top four teams in the ACC standings earn double-byes in the conference tournament—a crucial advantage that gives pitching staffs an extra day of rest. For FSU, that's especially important as star reliever John Abraham recovers from an injury suffered against Clemson. Every inning of rest could be the difference between a deep postseason run and an early exit.

So grab your garnet and gold gear, Seminoles fans. This isn't just another series—it's a chance to make a statement against your biggest rival with everything on the line. First pitch is Thursday, and the energy at Dick Howser will be electric.
