Florida State baseball standout Myles Bailey has broken his silence following a devastating season-ending injury. The first baseman, who was recently named to the prestigious Golden Spikes Award watch list, released a heartfelt statement on Tuesday addressing the leg injury he suffered last Saturday against Duke.
"To Nole Nation and everyone who has reached out with messages of encouragement, thank you," Bailey wrote. "The outpouring of love has meant the world to me during a really difficult time. I am heartbroken that my season has come to an end and I'm still processing all the emotions that come with that."
The injury occurred when the Tallahassee native slid into second base, requiring him to be carted off the field and transported to a hospital. His absence leaves a massive hole in the Seminoles' lineup, as Bailey had emerged as one of the nation's top players at his position. This season, he was hitting a remarkable .363 with a .913 slugging percentage, 13 home runs, and 33 RBI, consistently commanding respect from opposing pitchers who intentionally walked him 10 times.
In his statement, Bailey expressed profound gratitude for the medical and support staff who aided him. "I want to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Guyer, the staff at TH, and our great trainers at FSU for their world-class care," he said. "Even though I can't be out there battling with my teammates on the field, I am proud of how this team has responded and rallied together this last week," he stated, highlighting the group's resilience. "My role may be different now, but I will do everything I can to support my guys from the sidelines to help us win."
