Manuel Ugarte's time at Manchester United appears to be coming to an abrupt end, with his agent Jorge Mendes reportedly working around the clock to secure a summer exit for the midfielder. According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 25-year-old has been offered to Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus ahead of the transfer window opening on June 15.

After a disappointing stint at Old Trafford, Ugarte's value has taken a significant hit. Manchester United have slapped a £25 million price tag on the Uruguay international—a figure considered quite reasonable for Serie A clubs compared to other midfield options on the market. It's a far cry from the £42 million the Red Devils paid Paris Saint-Germain for him just last summer, or the £51 million PSG forked out to trigger his release clause at Sporting Lisbon.

The downturn in Ugarte's fortunes can be traced back to a particularly poor performance against Leeds United a fortnight ago, which reportedly prompted Sir Jim Ratcliffe to personally greenlight his departure. Since then, the midfielder has struggled to regain any semblance of form, and his agent is now scrambling to find a new home before his value drops further.

Despite his Premier League struggles, Ugarte's pedigree remains undeniable. His impressive spells in Portugal and France have kept him on the radar of top European clubs. Some players simply aren't suited to the English game but can thrive elsewhere—a pattern we've seen with players like Antony and Rasmus Hojlund, who have faced similar criticism at United.

Should Milan and Juventus pass on Mendes' proposal, Ugarte isn't short of other options. Reports from January suggest Ajax and Galatasaray have also had the midfielder on their shortlist, ready to pounce if the opportunity arises. For now, all eyes are on Italy as the summer transfer drama unfolds.
