Talk about a moment you'll never forget. On Friday night, with his Portsmouth High School baseball team trailing by a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, freshman Cam Stacy stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. Just an inning earlier, he had struck out. This time, he delivered a two-run single to right field for his first-ever varsity hit, scoring Hugh Herter and Jackson Hooper to seal a dramatic 10-9 walk-off victory over Londonderry.
It was a clutch performance under immense pressure. Londonderry had intentionally walked Nate Delaney to load the bases and face the freshman, setting the stage for Stacy's heroics. "For him to be able to pick us all up for his first varsity hit, I'm sure it's something he'll remember for a little bit," said Portsmouth head coach Tim Hopley. "And hopefully it's a springboard, not only for him, but for us."
The win capped a thrilling comeback, as the Clippers had scored six runs in the sixth inning to claw back from a significant deficit. Senior Zavier Lampert powered the offense with a home run and three RBIs, while Jackson Hooper contributed two hits and also earned the win on the mound with 1.1 innings of solid relief.
In other Seacoast baseball action, the Winnacunnet Warriors remained perfect at 3-0 behind a stellar pitching performance from junior Justin Coates. He tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out six. Bryce Pinsonnault provided early offense with a two-run double in the first inning, setting the tone for a strong team victory.
