Sean Miller and Texas men's basketball are riding a wave of momentum after a stellar first season that included a Sweet 16 run. With the season in the rearview mirror, the Longhorns have been busy reloading through an elite transfer portal and high school recruiting class. It's time to spotlight the new talent stepping onto the Forty Acres, starting with a dynamic perimeter scorer straight out of Boulder.

Isaiah Johnson, the first addition to Miller's transfer class, arrives with impressive credentials. In 2025, the point guard averaged 16.9 points, 3 assists, and 1 steal per game while shooting 37.8% from beyond the arc. With Jordan Pope, Tramon Mark, and Chendall Weaver departing, the backcourt needed a jolt—and Johnson is exactly that. He's not just an immediate starter; he could be the team's leading scorer next season. At nearly 17 points per game for Colorado, he still has room to grow.

Johnson's freshman campaign was nothing short of special. He dropped 27 points against BYU and 28 against Arizona, proving he can light it up against top competition. In Big 12 play, he had just one game scoring under 10 points and only one where he played less than 30 minutes. His ability to score at every level makes him a nightmare for defenses, and that versatility will prevent the Longhorns from suffering major dry spells on offense. More importantly, his presence will create opportunities for his teammates, opening up the floor for everyone.

While this isn't the highest-rated addition Miller made (that honor goes to David Punch, who we'll cover tomorrow), Johnson might be the most valuable. His knack for creating space, knocking down threes, and distributing the ball makes him the perfect "maestro" for Texas's offense. It's easy to see why Miller targeted him early and locked him in. Expect Johnson to be a leader both on and off the court as the Longhorns gear up for another big season.
