Frankfort High School's basketball program is celebrating a major double victory this week. Senior standout Jeremy Phillips has been crowned the Potomac Valley Conference Division 1 Player of the Year, while his coach, Scott Slider, earned the league's Coach of the Year honor in the recently released All-PVC awards.
Phillips, who is committed to continue his career at Frostburg State, put up video-game numbers to secure the prestigious award. He finished second in the entire state with a stellar scoring average of 23.8 points per game, showcasing his deep range by knocking down 78 three-pointers this season. His incredible high school career culminated with him becoming Frankfort's all-time leading scorer, amassing 1,448 points.
His coach, Scott Slider, was instrumental in guiding the Falcons to a landmark season. Frankfort posted a 15-10 record, captured the PVC team championship, and made a thrilling return to the Class AA state tournament for the first time since 2010, making Slider's Coach of the Year award a fitting recognition of his leadership.
Phillips wasn't the only Falcon to earn All-PVC honors. He was joined on the elite squad by teammates Bryson McKenzie and Kycin Waites, highlighting the team's collective talent. The conference team also featured strong representation from Keyser, with Braylon McGreevy, Grayson Lambka, and Trey Dawson receiving nods, while Hampshire's Matt Medina and Ayden Crabtree and Berkeley Springs' Sammy Stotler rounded out the selection.
