Get ready for a World Cup like no other, because Fox Sports is teaming up with the beloved Muppets of Sesame Street to bring a whole new level of fun to the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer. Announced on Tuesday, this partnership will weave iconic characters like Count von Count, Oscar the Grouch, and Grover into Fox's coverage, creating a family-friendly experience that blends the excitement of soccer with the educational charm of the classic show.

Fox Sports Vice President of Production Zac Kenworthy shared the excitement, stating, "We couldn’t be more excited to be working with one of the most adored children’s franchises in the world for FIFA World Cup 2026. By collaborating with Sesame Street, we’re adding a fun and educational element that brings families together around the Fox Sports viewing experience."

So, what can fans expect? The collaboration will feature standout segments like "The Count Down," where the numbers-obsessed Count von Count will break down match stats and scores in his signature style. Then there's "Trash Talk," a satirical highlight show hosted by Oscar the Grouch—perfect for adding a bit of grumpy humor to the beautiful game. And for those curious about the art of broadcasting, "Broadcaster Bootcamp" will see Grover teaming up with Fox's own commentators to learn how to call a soccer match, promising plenty of laughs and learning along the way.

Samantha Kennedy, Vice President of Marketing and Brand Strategy at Sesame Workshop, emphasized the broader vision: "The World Cup is one of the biggest cultural moments of the year, and a powerful opportunity to engage families with our beloved Sesame Street characters in new and unexpected ways. Through this collaboration with Fox Sports, we’re creating memorable moments that resonate with families and fans of all ages — all in service of our nonprofit mission to help children grow smarter, stronger, and kinder."

This isn't the first time Sesame Street has stepped into the sports arena. The franchise has previously partnered with the U.S. Olympic Committee for the 2014 Sochi Games and the 2024 Paris Games, proving that these characters have a knack for making major sporting events more accessible and enjoyable for viewers of all ages. As the World Cup approaches, this collaboration is set to be a highlight for families looking to share the thrill of the tournament together.
