In a major recruiting win for Iowa State, four-star small forward Donovan Davis has announced his commitment to the Cyclones, as first reported by Rivals.

Davis, ranked No. 31 overall in the 2027 class by Rivals, is one of the highest-rated prospects to choose Iowa State in the modern recruiting era. The 6-foot-7 junior from Freedom High School in Wisconsin is also the No. 10 small forward and the No. 3 player in his home state.

The Kaukauna native chose the Cyclones after official visits to Iowa, Nebraska, Marquette, and Wisconsin. His decision marks a significant step for the program, which continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail.

Davis delivered an impressive junior season, averaging 21.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game while shooting an efficient 70% from the field. Those numbers highlight his versatility and ability to impact the game on both ends of the court.

In speaking with Rivals, Davis detailed what drew him to Iowa State: "I liked the relationship I had with their coaches and with the players, but I also felt pretty comfortable and that I fit well into their system." He added, "Just the relationship I had with them and their plan for me and how they treated me and my family."

So what kind of player are Cyclone fans getting? Davis describes himself as "kinda an inside-out scorer. I can score inside and get to my spots but also shoot the 3 a little, and I like playing defense and getting rebounds as well." This two-way skill set should translate well to the college game and make him a key piece for Iowa State's future.
