Miami's second-leading scorer is on the move. Forward Brant Byers, who poured in 14.2 points per game for the RedHawks last season, has reportedly committed to transfer to Penn State, according to DraftExpress analyst Jonathan Givony.
The move brings the talented scorer closer to home, as his hometown of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, sits just two hours south of Penn State's campus in State College. Byers entered the transfer portal in March following a breakout redshirt sophomore campaign.
Beyond his scoring, Byers proved to be an efficient and versatile contributor for a dominant 32-2 Miami squad. He started 33 games, adding 4.1 rebounds per contest while shooting an impressive 47.8% from the field and 39.2% from beyond the arc. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Mid-American Conference second team, a significant leap after averaging 8.4 points per game as a freshman.
At Penn State, Byers will look to immediately bolster the Nittany Lions' offense. He joins a roster that includes other notable transfers, aiming to make an impact in the competitive Big Ten conference. For RedHawks fans, it's the loss of a key piece; for Nittany Lions supporters, it's a promising addition for the seasons ahead.
