A new professional journey begins for former Wisconsin Badgers standout Serah Williams. The 6-foot-4 forward heard her name called in the third round of the WNBA draft, selected 33rd overall by the Connecticut Sun before being traded to the expansion Portland Fire.
Williams, who transferred to UConn for her final collegiate season, showcased her skills on the sport's biggest stages. While her stats with the Huskies—averaging 6.7 points and 4.4 rebounds on an efficient 58.8% shooting—helped propel the team to the Final Four, her legacy was built in Madison.
During her three seasons with the Badgers, Williams was a dominant force, averaging 16.4 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Her tenure was marked by individual excellence, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors twice and being named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore.
Her final season at UConn proved invaluable, allowing her to demonstrate her athleticism and defensive versatility against elite competition, ultimately catching the eye of WNBA scouts. Now, she brings that well-rounded game and championship experience to Portland, where she will look to make an immediate impact for the new franchise.
