Former Tennessee standout Tobias Harris delivered a standout performance in Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs semifinals, helping the Detroit Pistons secure a 111-101 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday at Little Caesars Arena.
Harris, who started and logged 39 minutes on the floor, scored 20 points for the Pistons. He shot 6-of-14 from the field, including 1-of-5 from beyond the arc, and was a perfect 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. The versatile forward also grabbed eight rebounds, dished out one assist, and recorded two steals, showing the all-around game that made him a fan favorite in Knoxville.
Game 2 of the series is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. EDT, back at Little Caesars Arena, where Detroit will look to build on its early momentum.
Harris played for the Volunteers during the 2010-11 season under head coach Bruce Pearl. In his lone collegiate season, he averaged 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, earning Second-Team All-SEC honors and a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. He was also named a Second-Team Freshman All-American by the USBWA.
For fans who love the game, Harris's performance is a reminder of how college stars can shine on the biggest stage—and it's the perfect time to gear up in Pistons or Vols apparel to support your favorite players.
