Former Tennessee standout Grant Williams saw action in a high-stakes NBA play-in game Friday night, but his Charlotte Hornets saw their season come to an end with a 121-90 loss to the Orlando Magic.

Williams, a key contributor during his Vols career, logged 15 minutes off the bench in the elimination game. His final stat line included one point, two rebounds, and one steal, as Charlotte's offense struggled against a tough Orlando defense.

The loss concluded a rollercoaster season for the Hornets, who rallied from a 4-14 start to secure the No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. Williams, acquired by Charlotte via trade, was part of that mid-season push for postseason contention.

During his Tennessee tenure from 2016-2019, Williams established himself as one of the program's all-time greats. The two-time SEC Player of the Year and consensus First Team All-American averaged 15.7 points and 6.5 rebounds over 104 games, showcasing the versatile skills that made him the 22nd overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Now in his sixth NBA season with stints in Boston and Dallas before Charlotte, Williams continues to represent the Vols legacy at the professional level. While Friday's playoff exit was disappointing, his journey from Knoxville to the NBA spotlight remains an inspiration for Tennessee basketball fans everywhere.
