He's more of a receiver-styled tight end who doesn't particularly block well. With the team loving tight ends that can do both, he was limited in what they saw in him."

Injuries also hampered Zylstra's 2025 season. After suffering an ankle injury against the Chicago Bears in Week 2, he landed on injured reserve and didn't return until Week 15. He recorded all his receiving stats for the year in a Week 16 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. While he saw more offensive snaps than special teams duties before the injury, his role remained clear: a reliable backup ready to step up when called upon.
