The University of Dayton women's basketball community is mourning the loss of former head coach Jim Jabir, who passed away recently. The program confirmed the news in a social media post, honoring his profound legacy.
During his 13-season tenure with the Flyers, Jabir became the program's all-time winningest coach and built a formidable legacy. He guided the team to six consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, a remarkable feat of consistency, and in 2015, he led them on a historic run to their first-ever Elite Eight.
UD Director of Athletics Neil Sullivan expressed the university's deep condolences, stating, "We offer our most heartfelt prayers and condolences to his wife, Angie, and the entire Jabir family. We honor his memory and the many contributions he made to our program during his tenure as head coach."
Jabir, who resigned from his position in September 2016, is remembered as a transformative figure who elevated Dayton women's basketball to national prominence. His impact on the players, the program, and the sport will be felt for years to come.
