A former Georgia Bulldog is attempting an NFL comeback. Former Georgia and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton will participate in a rookie minicamp with the Buffalo Bills, according to Jordan Schultz.

Burton, still 24 years old, was a third-round pick by the Bengals in the 2024 NFL draft. Unfortunately, he struggled with off-the-field issues. He totaled 107 yards and no touchdowns in the 2024 season before being involved in a major off-the-field controversy on Dec. 30, 2024. As a result, he missed the regular season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In 2025, he didn't appear in a single Bengals game, and he was suspended in their Week 14 game against the Buffalo Bills, although no reason was given.

Before his NFL career, Burton played college football with the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs had him first, recruiting him as a four-star from the class of 2020.

As a true freshman in 2020, Burton had 27 receptions for 404 yards and three touchdowns, including a 197-yard, two-touchdown game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. His 197 yards against Mississippi State is ranked fourth in most yards in a single game by a Georgia Bulldog.

In 2021, Burton improved on his numbers, with 26 receptions for 497 yards and five touchdowns. He helped the Bulldogs win the national championship against Alabama, but in that offseason, Burton transferred to the Crimson Tide.

He broke out with the Crimson Tide, catching 79 receptions for 1,495 yards and 15 touchdowns in two seasons. That led him to being drafted in the third round by the Bengals, but off-the-field issues have followed him. Hopefully, he can keep his head straight in Buffalo. The Bills could use an explosive pass catcher for star quarterback Josh Allen.
