In a move that keeps him within the competitive SEC, former Tennessee forward Jaylen Carey has committed to the Missouri Tigers. The 6-foot-8, 267-pound power forward brings a wealth of experience and a proven physical presence to Columbia.

Carey's collegiate journey has been one of steady development. He began his career at James Madison in 2023, averaging 7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He then followed his former JMU coach, Mark Byington, to Vanderbilt for the 2024 season, where his production increased to 8 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest.

His most recent stop was in Knoxville for the 2025-26 season. Appearing in 37 games for the Volunteers, Carey provided valuable frontcourt depth, averaging 7.4 points and 6 rebounds. His commitment to Missouri signifies another key roster move in the ever-active SEC transfer landscape.

As one door closes, another opens for Tennessee. The Vols have been busy replenishing their roster through the portal, securing commitments from Belmont guard Tyler Lundblade, California guard Dai Dai Ames, and Loyola Chicago forward Miles Rubin following the season.
