Washington State point guard Jerone Morton has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats.
A Lexington native, Morton played at George Rogers Clark and was part of their 2022 Sweet 16 Championship team and runner-up the following season. He was an unranked class of 2023 recruit who signed with Morehead State. After two seasons, the 6-foot-4, 180-pounder transferred to Washington State.
This past season, Morton averaged 7.8 points on 43.8% shooting (38.7% on 3-pointers), 2.6 assists, and 1.9 rebounds across 25 minutes per game. He also shot 82% from the charity stripe on 1.9 attempts per outing.
When it came to West Coast Conference play (18 games), Morton shot a scorching 48.1% from deep on 52 total attempts (25 makes). Over his last eight games, he hit 13/21 3-point attempts, good for a 61.9% clip.
In two games vs. Gonzaga, Morton scored a combined 31 points on 10/18 shooting (5/9 from deep) to go with six total assists vs. two turnovers.
At Washington State, Morton played heavy minutes at shooting guard and occasionally on the wing, but in his previous season at Morehead State, he played more at point guard.
In the 2024-25 season with the Eagles, Morton averaged 10.4 points on 45% shooting (37.7% on 3-pointers), 3.4 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 steals across 29.5 minutes per game.
247 Sports ranks Morton 315th overall and 58th among point guards while giving him a 3-star rating.
Kentucky now has some much-needed backcourt depth and an emergency option at point guard if Alex Wilkins and Zoom Diallo are in foul trouble.
