Russell Wilson has a chance to come back to the New York Giants after playing there in 2025.

In a twist that feels more like a sequel than a comeback, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has been offered a chance to return to the New York Giants—the very team he briefly played for in 2025. According to a report from the New York Post, the Giants have extended a contract offer to the 37-year-old signal-caller, hoping he'll once again back up starter Jaxson Dart.

Wilson's journey has been a rollercoaster since his Steelers stint. In 2024, Pittsburgh brought him in as the answer under center, but a training camp calf injury—sustained while pushing a blocking sled—cost him nearly half the season. When he did play, he started strong but faded down the stretch. That led to a one-year deal with the Giants in 2025, where he went 0-3 as a starter before being relegated to the backup role. Now, with Wilson set to turn 38 during the 2026 season, the Giants are asking him to run it back in the same supporting role.

"They offered me, and I'm trying to figure out what the next best thing is for me to do," Wilson said, via the New York Post. "I still know I can play ball at a high level, but I also have an opportunity to..."

Meanwhile, the Steelers' quarterback situation remains in limbo. The team is still waiting on veteran Aaron Rodgers to decide if he wants to return for another season in Pittsburgh, leaving fans and the front office in a holding pattern.

For Wilson, this offer is a chance to prove he still has something left in the tank—even if it means embracing a mentor role in New York.
