The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking a look at a familiar face this weekend, as former linebacker Jacoby Windmon has returned to the Steel City for a tryout during rookie minicamp. According to a report from Penn Live's Nick Farabaugh, Windmon is participating as a tryout player—a move that could mark his third stint with the team.
Windmon originally signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2024, but was waived during final roster cuts that August. He was brought back via the practice squad in October of that year, only to be signed away by the Carolina Panthers to their active roster later that same month. After bouncing on and off Carolina's practice squad, Windmon rejoined the Steelers for a second stint in October 2025, though he was released shortly after. He then landed back with the Panthers' practice squad in November 2025 and signed a reserve/future contract in January 2026.
Following his release from the Panthers on Thursday, Windmon now has a chance to impress the Steelers' coaching staff during rookie minicamp. For a team that values depth and familiarity at the linebacker position, bringing back a player who knows the system could be a smart move as the offseason continues to unfold.
