After a brief legal chapter that kept him out of the headlines for all the wrong reasons, four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs is ready to turn the page and focus on what he does best: catching passes.
The former New England Patriots standout has been laying low since his release at the start of the new league year. But now, with a jury finding him not guilty on charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault following a two-day trial, Diggs is back in the spotlight with a clear message for NFL teams.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday night, Diggs didn't mince words. He posted his 2025 season stats—his first year back from a torn ACL suffered in 2024—and let the numbers do the talking. "This is not an opinion-based sport, so here are the numbers," he wrote. "I played 52% of the snaps and finished with 85 catches for 1,045 yards coming off an ACL. Where we going?"
For a player coming off a major knee injury, those are impressive numbers that show Diggs hasn't lost a step. And with his legal troubles now behind him, the veteran receiver is clearly eager to prove he still has plenty left in the tank.
Could a return to New England be in the cards? Patriots executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf hasn't ruled it out. "Yeah, I never like to rule anything out," Wolf said on Up & Adams. "There's always different scenarios that come up, whether you have an injury or a scheme shift, or whatever the case may be, so, don't wanna close the door on anything."
That said, the Patriots have already moved on in some ways. They signed Romeo Doubs to a four-year deal in free agency and are expected to trade for Eagles superstar A.J. Brown after June 1. With Diggs set to count $26.5 million against the cap in 2026—the second-highest hit on the roster—his release was as much about finances as it was about performance.
But in the NFL, things change fast. Injuries happen. Schemes shift. And a motivated, healthy Stefon Diggs with something to prove is the kind of player that can make any offense better. The question now is: which team will take that call?
