From the NFL to the UFL and back out again—former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. has been released by the Birmingham Stallions, the team announced Sunday. The 27-year-old's stint in the United Football League lasted just four games, during which he managed only one catch for seven yards.

Shenault's journey to the UFL began after he fell out of the NFL in 2025, following a brief stint with the Buffalo Bills that offseason. His most notable NFL stop came with the Panthers, who acquired him from the Jacksonville Jaguars in a trade back in August 2022. Carolina sent a 2023 seventh-round pick and a 2024 sixth-rounder to Jacksonville for the former second-round draft choice.

Over two seasons in Carolina, Shenault appeared in 21 games, hauling in 37 receptions for 332 yards and a touchdown. He also added 21 rushing attempts for 120 yards and another score, showcasing the versatility that originally made him a prized prospect. The Stallions selected him in the 2026 UFL Draft, but his production never matched that early promise.

For Panthers fans, Shenault's release from Birmingham marks the end of a winding road that started with such high hopes in Charlotte. It's a reminder of how quickly fortunes can change in professional football—a lesson that resonates whether you're tracking your favorite team or just gearing up for game day in the right gear.
