Brandon Walton is making himself right at home in the NFC South, and he's now just one team away from completing the division tour. The veteran offensive lineman is reportedly signing with the Atlanta Falcons, according to FOX Sports' Greg Auman, marking his third stop within the NFC South in recent years.
Walton, 28, spent the last two seasons with the Carolina Panthers, but his journey to Atlanta started this past weekend when he attended the Falcons' rookie minicamp as a tryout player. It didn't take long for the Falcons to see enough to bring him on board.
The Seminole, Florida native and Florida Atlantic University product originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2020. After a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers later that season, he found a home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2021 to 2023, where he developed a key connection with current Panthers head coach Dave Canales—then Tampa Bay's offensive coordinator.
That connection led Walton to Carolina's practice squad ahead of the 2024 season. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds, he saw action in four games for the Panthers, with his most significant playing time coming in a Week 4 loss to the New England Patriots, where he logged 23 snaps at right guard.
For a player who's been grinding since his undrafted start, signing with Atlanta means he's now suited up for three of the four NFC South teams—a testament to his versatility and durability in a division known for fierce trench battles. Whether this move shores up the Falcons' depth or gives Walton a chance to compete for a starting role, it's a savvy pickup for a team looking to bolster its offensive line.
