The Ducks' defensive line depth departed this offseason, with one player in particular expected to have a monstrous season elsewhere.

The college football landscape is constantly shifting, and the Oregon Ducks felt that shift this offseason as a significant chunk of their defensive line depth headed for new pastures. Among those departures, one former Duck is poised to make a massive splash elsewhere: defensive lineman Terrance Green.

When Green arrived in Eugene as a four-star prospect and the No. 30 defensive lineman in the 2023 class, expectations were sky-high. But at Oregon, he joined a rotation packed with fellow blue-chip talent, making it tough to carve out a starring role. After three seasons totaling 22 tackles and peaking as a rotational piece in 2025, Green—along with nearly ten other Ducks defensive linemen—decided to seek more playing time. With all four starters returning for Oregon, a fourth season as a backup loomed.

Enter the transfer portal, and Green found a new home with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Joining a program fresh off a College Football Playoff appearance, the 6-foot-5, 330-pound behemoth isn't just settling for a spot on the roster—he's already turning heads. CBS Sports ranks him as the No. 7 most impactful transfer for the 2026 season, a testament to his potential in Tuscaloosa.

"Alabama needed size and power in the middle of its defense after the loss of Tim Keenan, and this transfer from Oregon is an ideal fit," wrote CBS Sports' Brad Crawford. "With the Ducks bringing back every starter at the point of attack, Green looked for another option where snaps would not be limited, and he could potentially start. At 6-foot-5, 330 pounds, Green is one of the SEC's biggest threats against the run."

Stopping the run has always been Green's bread and butter. At Oregon, he was often deployed when starters A'Mauri Washington or Bear Alexander needed a breather or when the opposing offense was in an obvious running situation. He also showed flashes of disrupting the passing game in limited reps, recording a sack and a pass deflection in 2024. But his primary impact will come against the ground game, helping an Alabama defense that allowed 126.9 rushing yards per game last season.

Green is just one of several former Ducks making moves this offseason, but his path to Alabama might be the one to watch most closely. For fans of the game—and anyone looking to rep their favorite player's new colors—this is a story of grit, opportunity, and the relentless pursuit of playing time on college football's biggest stage.
