DEKALB, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Linebacker Quinn Urwiler had one of the greatest seasons ever turned in by a Northern Illinois University player last fall. Now, he’ll get a chance to audition for an NFL job. Urwiler has been invited to the Seattle Seahawks upcoming rookie minicamp.Urwiler was not selected in the NFL Draft last weekend. Last fall, playing in the middle of the Huskies’ defense, he had 141 tackles. That was the most tackles in a season by an NIU player since 1992. Urwiler also led the nation (FBS) in solo tackles per game with 5.92. In Seattle, Urwiler will see a familiar face. His NIU coach last Fall Thomas Hammock is now the Seahawks running backs coach.Another NIU player from last fall, cornerback Donte Harrison, has been invited to the Baltimore Ravens rookie minicamp. Harrison started nine games for the Huskies last season. He had 30 tackles, one interception and six pass breakups.A third Huskie from last fall, safety Cyrus McGarrell, could be headed north of the border. He has been drafted by the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL Draft. McCarrell is a Canadian. He’s from Windsor, Ontario.
