The baseball community is mourning the tragic loss of former MLB prospect Jon Kenner, who died in a rollover crash in Texas on April 12. He was 35 years old.

Kenner was driving home to Santa Fe, Texas, after coaching a youth tournament for the 14U HTX Battle Bucks when the accident occurred. A father of two young children, he leaves behind a legacy defined by his profound love for the game, a passion he carried from childhood through a professional career that saw him practice with the Houston Astros, Minnesota Twins, and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations.

The Astros released a statement honoring Kenner, who was drafted by the club in 2013 and developed into a productive player, advancing to Triple-A and appearing in several Spring Training games. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Jon’s family and friends during this very difficult time," the statement read.

Described in his obituary as a man who "lived and breathed baseball," Kenner's journey from a standout youth player to a minor league prospect exemplified dedication.
