Former Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore has resolved his legal case stemming from a December arrest, avoiding jail time. Moore pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges—trespassing and malicious use of a telecom device—and was sentenced to 18 months of probation. A more serious felony home invasion charge was dropped.
The incident occurred just hours after Moore was fired by the University of Michigan for cause. An internal investigation had revealed an inappropriate relationship with a staffer, and the legal charges arose from allegations that Moore entered the woman's apartment and confronted her while making threats of self-harm.
Moore's tenure in Ann Arbor was a rapid ascent followed by a sudden fall. He served as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach under Jim Harbaugh before being promoted to head coach when Harbaugh departed for the NFL. In his two seasons at the helm, Moore compiled a 16-8 record before his dismissal, a stark reminder of how quickly fortunes can change in the high-stakes world of college football.
