Former Liverpool forward Emile Heskey has sent a stark warning to Arne Slot, casting doubt on the Dutchman's long-term future at Anfield despite his recent Premier League title triumph. The Reds' title defense has unraveled into a messy campaign, and now even club legends are questioning whether Slot can weather the storm.

Heskey, speaking on the All Out Football podcast, didn't hold back. "It's difficult to sack someone off the back of winning the league and finishing top four, hopefully," he said. "But when you've spent that sort of money and the football's not quite where you believe it should be, to lose that many games in a season as well, it's tough. It's a tough watch."

The former striker's comments cut to the heart of Liverpool's dilemma. Slot arrived as the man to replace a transformative figure, and for one glorious season, he looked the part. His side played with aggression, intelligence, and authority, storming to the title. But football rarely stands still.

This season has exposed cracks that were once hidden beneath momentum and confidence. Liverpool have looked vulnerable defensively, uncertain in midfield, and strangely passive in big matches. The sharpness that overwhelmed opponents has dulled, and around Anfield, belief has given way to anxiety.

"I wouldn't be surprised if they did it," Heskey added, referencing a potential managerial change. "There are managers out there that could probably fit the system we want, but then do we have the squad to balance it?"

At elite clubs, context matters. Winning once buys goodwill, but it doesn't guarantee patience forever. For Slot and Liverpool, the question now is whether that goodwill has run out.
