Former Blue Devil Kon Knueppel spoke about Charlotte's breakout season, crediting his team for their desire to win despite a slow start to the year.

The Charlotte Hornets are buzzing with a renewed sense of purpose this season, enjoying their most successful campaign since their last playoff appearance in 2016. With two games left, they've already notched 43 wins—tying their second-best record in a decade—and are fighting for playoff positioning.

Central to this resurgence is former Duke standout Kon Knueppel, who has been instrumental in helping establish a gritty, winning culture in Charlotte. In a recent interview, Knueppel reflected on the team's early-season adversity, emphasizing a core competitive principle that resonates with athletes at every level.

"I remember talking to [Jeff Peterson] when we were 4-14," Knueppel told the Charlotte Observer. "Losing is never okay. As a player, most players feel that way. Some teams would have just packed it up... And we didn't."

That refusal to accept defeat sparked a remarkable turnaround. The Hornets caught fire before the All-Star break and have continued their strong play, winning 11 of their last 15 games. Now, they stand on the brink of the postseason, with their final two contests against the Pistons and Knicks determining whether they secure a top-six seed or enter the Play-In Tournament.

It's a testament to a team that chose resilience over resignation, proving that a strong mindset can redefine a season's trajectory.
