Justin Turner isn't ready to hang up his cleats just yet. At 41 years old, the former Los Angeles Dodgers star and World Series champion is proving that his love for the game runs deeper than any offseason uncertainty. After no MLB team came calling this winter, Turner took his talents south of the border, signing with the Toros de Tijuana in the Mexican League.

"I've always said I'm going to play as long as I can and make someone rip a jersey off me," Turner told The Athletic. "I love playing, I love being around guys, love being around the cage. I still feel really good in the box."

Turner announced his move to Tijuana in April with a bilingual message to fans, showing that his commitment to baseball transcends leagues and languages. It's a familiar fire for a player who has spent 17 seasons in the big leagues, earning two All-Star nods, an NLCS MVP award, and a 2020 World Series ring with the Dodgers.

His journey has been anything but linear. After nine memorable seasons in Los Angeles from 2014 to 2022, Turner bounced to Boston for a year, then split 2024 between Toronto and Seattle before landing with the Cubs. Now, instead of calling it a career, he's trading MLB stadiums for Mexican League ballparks, all in the name of keeping his dream alive.

"What else am I gonna do? Golf? Sit in a booth and talk about other players?" Turner laughed. "I'd much rather be swinging the bat than talk about people swinging the bat. You only have one opportunity and one window to play this game. Once you say you're done, very, very, very few people come back and pick it up again."

While Turner hasn't ruled out a future in broadcasting or coaching, he's made it clear that playing remains his top priority. For fans and fellow athletes, his determination is a reminder that passion doesn't have an expiration date—and that sometimes, the best plays happen off the field, in the choices we make to keep doing what we love.
