Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Kaidon Salter is taking his talents north of the border. After a brief stint at the Tennessee Titans rookie minicamp last week didn't result in an NFL roster spot, Salter has signed with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League.

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, the BC Lions are the oldest professional sports franchise in the province. They're coming off a strong 2025 season with an 11-7 record, and they're looking to build on that momentum. Salter joins a competitive quarterback room that includes Chase Brice, Nathan Rourke, and Tommy Rittenhouse—setting up an intriguing battle for playing time as the season approaches.

Salter's path to the CFL comes after a single season in Boulder, where he started nine games for the Buffaloes. He threw for 1,414 yards and 10 touchdowns while adding 356 rushing yards and five scores on the ground. While those numbers were solid, they fell short of the high expectations that followed him after his standout 2023 campaign at Liberty, where he won Conference USA MVP.

Salter is one of eight former Buffaloes to sign with a team following the draft, joining wide receiver Sincere Brown and defensive end Arden Walker among others. It's a testament to the depth of talent coming out of Colorado's program.

The CFL season kicks off on June 4, with the BC Lions playing their first game on Saturday, June 13. For Salter, this is a fresh chance to showcase his dual-threat ability and prove he can lead a team at the professional level. Whether he cracks the starting lineup or develops behind more experienced quarterbacks, this move keeps his football dreams alive and adds an exciting chapter to his journey.
