Former Clemson star cornerback Avieon Terrell has officially signed his rookie contract with the Atlanta Falcons, making it a family affair in the secondary. The Falcons announced the deal Thursday after selecting Terrell with the No. 48 overall pick in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft. His four-year rookie contract is projected at approximately $10.3 million, including a signing bonus near $4 million.
This move reunites Avieon with his older brother, A.J. Terrell, a former Clemson standout who was drafted by Atlanta in the first round back in 2020 and has since become one of the Falcons' top defensive players. "Being able to stay home and play with my brother, it has been a dream come true," Avieon said after the draft. "It's something we have always talked about, and now it has happened. We feel good about it."
Avieon wrapped up his Clemson career as one of the ACC's most productive defensive backs. The 2025 All-American and Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist posted 46 tackles, 11 pass breakups, five forced fumbles, and a career-high 3.0 sacks across 12 starts last season. Over three years with the Tigers, he totaled 128 tackles, 30 pass breakups, three interceptions, four sacks, eight forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries in 39 games. He earned All-ACC honors twice and set Clemson records for forced fumbles by a defensive back in both a single season and a career.
The Atlanta native also finished his college career leading all cornerbacks nationally in forced fumbles. Now, he'll begin his NFL journey alongside his older brother in their hometown. The Terrells also made history as the first set of Clemson brothers drafted by and set to play for the same NFL team. For Falcons fans, this is more than just a contract signing—it's a story of family, hometown pride, and defensive depth that could make Atlanta's secondary one to watch.
