Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has admitted the performance against Brighton last night was “disgusting” and “gutless”.

To be honest, I even think those words might be too kind. The only words to describe that performance by Chelsea last night would be swear words for me, they would be the only words that would feel right and appropriate.

Chelsea were absolutely battered by Brighton last night, it was an absolutely disgraceful performance and anyone involved with Chelsea right now should be very ashamed of themselves.

Brighton just wanted it more, worked harder, ran faster, were more physical, and they eased to the 3-0 win in all honesty.

Jason Cundy demonstrates Chelsea’s lack of depth out wide.

In words picked up on X last night, Cundy reacted to the performance from Chelsea:

“I’m embarrassed about that. That was disgusting, absolutely disgusting. I am ashamed of that performance tonight. Gutless! They battered and embarrassed us.”

Gary Cahill tried his best to be positive about Chelsea’s performance against Brighton, but even he found today’s game a “hard watch” and says there were “no positives”.

Chelsea’s loss at Brighton means they’ve lost fives league games without scoring for the first time since 1912. So they have now broken one of the oldest records in history.
