The buzz around Chelsea's managerial search is reaching fever pitch, and former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has thrown his hat into the ring of debate. While media chatter points to Xabi Alonso as the top candidate to replace Liam Rosenior, with talks reportedly underway, the question remains: can he steer the ship at Stamford Bridge?

Alonso, a former Real Madrid boss and tactical mastermind, is widely seen as the standout option Chelsea have been linked with. But there's a catch—his willingness to take the role isn't a given. Concerns linger over Chelsea's ownership and the club's current direction, which has seen more than its fair share of turbulence lately. Let's face it, the hot seat at Stamford Bridge isn't exactly a cozy spot right now.

Enter Wyness, who believes Alonso could be the catalyst for change. Speaking on Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, he dismissed other contenders, noting, "It's Xavi's agent trying to push his name—he's not the right fit for Chelsea's culture." Instead, he championed Alonso: "He's the one with much more experience. His spell in Germany was excellent, and he's someone who can earn the trust of the owners, set a clear strategy, and perhaps shift the focus away from buying young players on long-term contracts."

Wyness didn't hold back on praise, calling Alonso "a very clever man, very intelligent, personable, and a great thinker." He added, "Chelsea would be very lucky to have him. They should be biting his hand off if they get the chance."

Beyond the managerial saga, there's movement in the transfer market. Como's Jacobo Ramon is drawing interest from top clubs, with Chelsea offering a fast track to first-team action. Meanwhile, young talent Mathis Eboue is a name to watch as he edges closer to Chelsea's senior squad, and whispers of Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo links add fuel to the rumor mill.

For Chelsea fans, it's a pivotal moment—can Alonso bring the stability and vision needed to turn the tide? Only time will tell, but the stakes have never been higher.
