The Denver Broncos had a relatively quiet draft, adding seven new players to the roster at positions of need. But the team's most talked about pick is fourth-round selection Jonah Coleman.
The Broncos needed another running back to add to a backfield that included J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey. If not for Dobbins suffering a foot injury in Week 10 last year, the Broncos may very well have played in the Super Bowl. Because Dobbins has a lengthy injury history and the rushing attack suffered greatly without him, Coleman should play a key role this coming season.
Count former Broncos tight end Jake Butt as one of Coleman's biggest supporters. Butt, who now calls games for the Big Ten Network, said the Broncos got the "steal of the draft".
Butt went on to discuss Coleman being a great player and an even better person in his post on the social media website, X.
Broncos fans are going to take a quick liking to Coleman, particularly after the former Washington Huskies running back predicted that the team would draft him.
Butt, who played for the Broncos from 2017 until 2020, mentioned Coleman's skill in pass protection. That is an underrated aspect of his game that will have him seeing the field often, even as a rookie, and what had to be a major factor in his selection by the Broncos, despite guys like Pete Prisco of CBS Sports saying the team should have gone with Emmett Johnson in that slot instead.
