Megan Schofill, the former Auburn University standout, has finally broken through for her first career victory on the Epson Tour, and she did it in style at one of golf's most iconic venues. The 24-year-old captured the Carlisle Arizona Women's Golf Classic at TPC Scottsdale on May 3, finishing at 11-under-par 273 to win by a single stroke.
For Schofill, a Monticello native and three-time All-Big Bend Player of the Year, this win represents the culmination of years of hard work and rising through the ranks of women's golf. The 2023 U.S. Women's Amateur Champion and 2024 Auburn graduate opened the four-day event with a solid 4-under 67 on Thursday, followed by rounds of even-par 71, 5-under 66, and a final-round 2-under 69. Her third round was particularly impressive, as she carded seven birdies to build a two-stroke lead heading into Sunday's finale.
On the final day, Schofill showed the poise of a seasoned veteran. After making the turn at even par, she delivered back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13 to regain momentum and never looked back. "I made a really nice par on 11, and then a great birdie on 12 that kind of put the momentum in my favor," Schofill told EpsonTour.com. "I started hitting some really good shots, and the long putt I made on 15 really propelled me. After 11, I felt like if I kept playing well, I'd have a chance to win."
That clutch play down the stretch earned her a $60,000 paycheck and vaulted her to second place in the overall 2026 Epson Tour standings. For context, the Epson Tour serves as the official qualifying tour for the LPGA, with the top 15 point earners each season earning their LPGA Tour cards through the Race for the Card competition.
Schofill's journey to this milestone has been one of steady progress. As a rookie in 2025, she made 17 starts, recorded 14 cuts, and notched three top-10 finishes. This season, she has continued that momentum with five starts, four cuts made, and two top-10 finishes — including this breakthrough victory.
The win not only validates her talent but also puts her firmly on the radar for LPGA membership. As the Epson Tour continues its West Coast swing, Schofill and her fellow competitors will head to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the Reliance Matrix Championship starting Thursday, May 7th. For a player who has already proven she can win under pressure, the future looks brighter than ever.
